Republican Governor of U.S. state of Tennessee who, in March 2021, signed a law requiring high school and middle school student athletes’ “gender for purposes of participation” in athletic events to be determined by their original birth certificate and who, in May 2022, signed into law a bill that bans transgender athletes from participating in women’s college sports at public and private universities.
